Man, a Measure of All Things? How the Renaissance Began

The first in an eight part weekly series of lectures delving into the entire history of the Renaissance. This session will focus on why and how one of the world’s greatest cultural booms reverberated through the towns of northern Italy. Rose Balston, the course host will outline the work of Cimabue, Giotto and the Lorenzetti brothers, as well as look at the role of the poets Dante, Petrarch and Boccaccio. We’ll visit Florence, Siena and Padua and set the scene for the flourishing of the Renaissance.
